The step from firefighter to officer is a big one; get some help with this course. People management, leadership, pre-planning, budgeting, personnel safety, fire investigations, training and incident command are covered. Don't lead by the seat of your pants, discover some proven officership principles and tips to improve your command ability. The PA Fire Officer I certification exam is administered upon successful completion. NIMS, Haz. Mat. Ops., Firefighter II and Fire Service Instructor I are required.

  • Runs:  Wednesdays, January 13, 20, 27, & February 3, 6-10 p.m., & Sunday, January 17, 31, & February 7 , 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

  • Min/Max for class: 6 / 24

    Prerequisites: 18+, ELIF or Equivalent, recommend FF-II certification. Exam requires additional requirements (See Certification exam section for further details). Requirements:  Note taking material & Jones and Bartlett, Fire Officer: Principles and Practices, 4th Edition. The course is a Non-PSFA CEU program. Total hours = 40, CEUs = 4.0. Min/Max for class: 6 / 24. Tuition / Material Fee:  $170.00 & $10.00

    • Please note – exam requirements are different from class requirements

    • Exam Fee:  $250.00

    • Application Deadline:  Sunday, February 7 by 8 a.m. at the PSTC; see Certification Exam section for application details and requirements.
