Tactical Company Officer - Spring 2027 - PSTC

The goal of this training is to provide insight to students regarding the initial company officer decisions and actions needed during the first few minutes of an incident. Students will review the importance of incident scene size-ups, review pertinent NIOSH reports regarding causal factors relating to incident command, review command training, discussed and practice size ups of various type of incidents, review the need for follow up reports, discuss tactical priorities and the factor the play in incident command, and discuss the use of Command Boards/Tactical Worksheets. At the end of this training, students should have a working knowledge of the importance of the actions required of an initial company officer, or an individual acting as an initial company officer during the first few minutes of an incident. Students will practice incident scene sizes ups of varying nature, and will understand the importance of span of control along with incident command processes. Students will have the opportunity to be introduced to Command Boards/Tactical Worksheets as a tool to assist the initial company officer/incident commander. Prerequisites:  18+, ELIF. Requirements:  Note taking material. The course is a Non-PSFA CEU program. Total hours = 4.0, CEUs = 0.4. Min/Max for class: 6 / 24.
