Rope Rescue Operations is the 2nd course in the Rope Rescue Track. This course is designed to bring the new student to the NFPA 1006 (2021) Operations level. Topics will include Developing an Incident Action Plan (IAP); Hazard specific PPE and Equipment; Rescue equipment; Ropes, Knots, Bends and Hitches; Rigging & Anchoring; Belay Operations; Patient care, packaging, and evacuation; Mechanical Advantage systems; Lowering, and Working at height. The Rope Rescue Operations Course will provide students with the knowledge and skills to operate at the NFPA 1006 (2021), Rope Rescue Operations Level (Chapter 5.2). Prerequisites: Rope Rescue Awareness (RORA). Student Equipment/Supply Needs: Note taking supplies, Instructor provided handouts, rescue style helmet, gloves, eye protection, and sturdy ankle supporting footwear and Jones & Bartlett Rope Rescue: Principles and Practice, Fifth Edition (required).
