2024 Version This course will provide an operation-level of information and skills as it pertains to vehicle rescue incidents. Topics will include general vehicle rescue function/operation; incident management of the vehicle accident/rescue incident; vehicle anatomy, design, and construction; recognition and control of hazards relative to a vehicle accident/rescue incident; and the tools and equipment used at a vehicle accident/rescue incident. Course Goal: The goal of this course is to provide the student with an operation level of knowledge and skills necessary to respond to and function at a vehicle accident/rescue incident in accordance with NFPA 1670: Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents. Prerequisites: Minimum age: 16 years old at start of course and 2024 NVRA & HMA/R. Student Equipment & Supplies: Pen/Pencil, Notebook, and PPE. Total hours = 28, CEUs = 2.8

  • Starts:  Sunday, September 20 at 8 a.m.
  • Runs:  Monday & Wednesday, September 21, 23, & 28, 6-10 p.m., & Sunday, September 20 & 27, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Student Equipment/Supply Needs: Pen/Pencil, Notebook suitable for classroom, Vehicle Rescue and Extrication Principles and Practice, Jones & Bartlett Revised 2nd edition, & TOG or approved PPE. Prerequisite(s): Participants entering the program MUST be at least 16 years of age by the first day of class; completed the PA State Fire Academy/Department of Health NFPA 1006 Passenger Vehicle Rescue Awareness 24 course, possess a current approved first aid certification or current EMS Provider certification and possess current approved CPR certification and possess a Hazardous Materials Operations training or national certification. The course is a PSFA CEU program. Total hours = 28, CEUs =2.8. Min/Max for class: 10 / 24. Tuition / Material Fee:  $170.00 & $135.00
