This class will examine the films that have become the basis of cinematic horror as we know it. We will start with the silent classics and how German Expression influences early horror. We will then look at Universal Studios and their famous "Monsters" - Frankenstein, Dracula, etc. Then finish with the psychological horror of Val Lewton, and some British horror thrown in as well! With plenty of film clips and discussion, this light-hearted class is perfect die the Halloween season.
