This 32-hour course is designed for the firefighters to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to operate on a fire ground as a member of an engine company. Course is composed of 8-hours of lecture, 8-hours of drills, and 16-hours of “live fire” burns under various conditions and scenarios. Each “live fire” will be designed as roll-ins on an apparatus requiring all engine company operations on the fire ground to be completed, while working in conjunction with the Modern Truck Company Operations class. Students will be given the opportunity to develop officer leadership roles as well. Topics include: review of structural fire behavior, fire ground safety, hose line advancement and attack procedures, SCBA systems and practice, organized fire attack, forcible entry, and ground ladder handling. Prerequisites: Minimum age: 18 years old at start of course, and ELIF or EBM or FF I certification. Student Equipment & Supplies: Pen/Pencil, Notebook, TOG, SCBA, & spare cylinder. Course is a Non-PSFA CEU program. Total hours = 32, CEUs = 3.2 Minimum class size is twelve (12) and maximum class size is twenty-four (24).
